Dog dies, house deemed unlivable after fire in Sulphur

VIDEO: A severe fire left a house unlivable and took the life of a service dog at a home in Sulphur. According to Sulphur Fire Assistant Chief Chris Vice, authorities have not yet been able to determine how the fire was started. Their department received the call around 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

The fire, which started in the utility room of the home on Melanie Drive, was put out by 2 p.m. The fire rose into the attic and burned a hole through the roof of the home. Vice says one person was in the home at the time of the fire but got out safely. Carlyss Fire, Houston River Fire Department, and Ward 6 Fire responded to the blaze.
