PHOTOS: Emergency crews responded to a house fire in Shreveport on Memorial Day (May 26). It happened around 1:15 p.m. in the 1900 block of Nicholson Street between Ledbetter Street and Union Avenue. Thatโs just off Hollywood Avenue in southwest Shreveport. More than a dozen units with the Shreveport Fire Department responded, as well as half a dozen units with the police department.
When crews got to the house, they saw heavy smoke coming from the front of the one-story home. Officials say it took 21 firefighters about 20 minutes to put out the fire. Officials with the fire department say at least 10 cats and dogs were able to make it out of the home safely, including some newborn kittens that were rescued. The daughters of the homeowner and a couple of other people were inside the house at the time of the fire. They were all able to make it out safely. No injuries have been reported. Thereโs no word yet on how the fire started.
