PHOTOS: Fire officials say quick thinking by a driver helped to keep a semi truck fire from turning into something worse. Around 8 p.m. Friday, Daviess County, Yelvington, and Thruston-Philpot fire crews were called to the 7000 block of Highway 60 East for a semi fire.
Fire officials say the call had originally come in saying the semi on fire was hauling another semi with around 300 gallons of diesel fuel, but when crews arrived there was only one semi involved. Crews were able to get the fire quickly under control, containing it to a power unit on the semi. The driver of the semi was hauling another semi, but quickly disconnected when they realized the fire had started, which limited the spread of the fire, firefighters say. One lane of Highway 60 East was shut down while crews fought the fire.
