Louisville Fire battles blaze in California neighborhood

Louisville firefighters were called to an early morning fire on Tuesday. Capt. Donovan Sims said they responded to reports of smoke coming from a building in the 1800 block of West Kentucky Street around 6:30 a.m. That’s in the California neighborhood.

Firefighters were on the scene within three minutes and found heavy fire conditions within the two-story house, Sims said. The first responders started on the inside so they could both deal with the fire and search for any victims; they didn’t find anyone, and no injuries were reported, according to Sims. Around 25 firefighters got the fire under control within 30 minutes. Louisville Fire’s Arson Unit is investigating the cause of the fire.
