VIDEO: A firefighter was taken to the hospital after suffering from a fall while fighting a fire in the Portland neighborhood. The Louisville Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 200 block of North 19th Street around 11:30 p.m. Saturday. Once on scene, firefighters found the second floor of a two-story house on fire.
Officials say the house was vacant and utilities to the house were not connected. A total of 25 firefighters worked to put out the fire; however, one of the firefighters was taken to the hospital.
Officials say the firefighters’ injuries were the result of a fall that occurred while fighting the fire, but their injuries are described as non-life-threatening. Louisville Metro Arson is working to determine the cause of the fire.
