Lexington Fire Department gets new unit for emergency medical response

VIDEO: The Lexington Fire Department is celebrating the arrival of a new unit that will lead to quick response times in emergencies. City leaders like Mayor Linda Gorton and Lexington Fire Department Chief Jason Wells gathered at Station 16 on Wednesday to celebrate Emergency Care 13 (EC13) being placed into service. It will be used to provide medical services in emergencies.

โ€œThis milestone represents far more than just a new vehicle. Itโ€™s the culmination of months of planning, coordination and problem solving by our dedicated team,โ€ Wells said. This milestone marks the first addition of a medical unit to the LFD fleet since 2018, and the first overall unit addition since 2019 when Engine 24 and Tanker 1 were placed into service at Station 24. โ€œAs our community grows, we must continually evaluate our resources to ensure that weโ€™re providing the best possible service to the residents and visitors of Fayette County. We hold our mission to protect life and property sacred, but we cannot accomplish it alone,โ€ Wells said.
