Funeral arrangements have been made for the Okolona Fire Department captain who died during a camping trip last week. Chris Berry died the morning of June 18 while out on a fishing boat on the Dale Hollow Reservoir.
Officials said Berry fell off the boat and others on it were unable to rescue him. He was later found in 72 feet of water. Berry was 35. Members of the Okolona Fire Department made the trip down to Nashville Friday to bring Berry home.
There will be three visitations for Berry, with two on Thursday from 12-4 p.m. and 5-8 p.m., and another on Friday from 1-2 p.m. at Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (4895 N Preston Highway). Following Friday’s visitation, there will be a memorial service at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home. After that, there will be a celebration of life at the Hillview Government Center.
Berry was a nine-year veteran with the Okolona Fire Department. He leaves behind a wife of 6 years, his biological parents, a stepfather, a sister, a mother and father-in-law and an extensive Fire & EMS family.
