Topeka Fire responds to house fire, no injuries reported

The Topeka Fire Department (TFD) responded to a Sunday house fire, as no injuries were reported. According to a press release from TFD, firefighters responded to the fire at 2328 SW Eveningside Dr. on Sunday, July 20, at 10:45 a.m. When crews arrived, they found smoke and flames coming from a single-story house and quickly extinguished the fire.

No occupants were located in the house, and no injuries were reported. The occupant was not home at the time of the fire. A dog was rescued by fire crews and did survive. A TFD Investigation Unit responded to determine the cause and origin of the fire. The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental, having originated in the bedroom.

TFD response included 3 engine companies, 2 truck companies, and 2 battalion chiefs. Assisting agencies included AMR, Evergy, the Kansas Gas Service, and the American Red Cross. Working smoke detectors were not located in the house where the fire originated.
