One person injured in Overland Park apartment fire

VIDEO: One person is hospitalized after a fire at an Overland Park apartment complex. Firefighters responded to the fire at the Stonebriar Woods Apartments near 120th and Century around 4 p.m. Friday afternoon. Everyone had evacuated the building when emergency crews arrived at the scene.

The firefighters discovered the fire in a second floor bedroom of the two story building. The fire department said one person suffered smoke inhalation and was transported to a hospital for treatment. Firefighters rescued a dog and two ferrets from the apartment but a cat is still missing.

Crews contained the damage to the apartment where the fire started, but it suffered significant damage. Two people who lived in the apartment are displaced according to the fire department. Others who live in the building will be able to return to their homes. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
