One injured when SUV crashes into Wichita home, causing fire

Authorities are investigating what led to an SUV crashing into a house and starting a fire in east Wichita. It happened shortly after 12:30 p.m. on Foxpointe Circle near Kansas Highway 96 and Webb Road. An SUV crashed into the front of a home and caught fire, according to the Wichita Fire Department, with the flames spreading to the house.

The driver was trapped inside the vehicle, the department said. Crews put out the SUV fire and got the driver out. The department said on social media that the driver was taken to a hospital for “further evaluation.” Sedgwick County 911 dispatch initially said someone was seriously hurt.

Part of the outside of the house was charred, and WFD said there was moderate damage inside. which was visibly charred by fire.
