Governor signs proclamation giving special designation to Fallen Firefighters Memorial in Wichita

VIDEO: In Wichita on Wednesday, Kansas Governor Laura Kelly appeared in front of the Fallen Firefighters Memorial on South Broadway and took action that is part of an effort to amplify the sacrifices of first responders who paid the ultimate sacrifice. Kelly signed a petition to designate the memorial in south Wichita as the official fallen firefighter memorial for the state of Kansas.

โ€œFire departments are a pillar of our stateโ€™s safety and stability and your work is essential to Kansasโ€™ long-term growth,โ€ Kelly said. โ€œToday we pay tribute to those who have lost their lives in service to their communities and we recommit ourselves to honoring their legacies.โ€

Wednesdayโ€™s proclamation signing is just one of numerous changes happening around the Kansas Firefighter Museum in Wichita. Earlier this year, the Wichita City Council renamed nearby Lincoln Park to Kansas Fallen Firefighters Memorial Park.
