Woman, child escape Davenport home fire

A woman, and her dog escaped a house fire in Davenport Monday morning. Just before 10 a.m., a crew could see firefighters working on a home in the 1800 block of West 4th Street. The woman told a TV6 crew on scene, she was woken up by her coughing and noticed a haze in the upstairs of the home.

The woman said she called 911 who told her to go downstairs. When she couldnโ€™t, she was told by rescuers to break out a window. According to the woman, when crews arrived, she, and the dog were outside. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
