Seven people had a close call on the Cedar River Sunday night after getting tangled in fallen trees while tubing. The Black Hawk County Dispatch Center got the 911 call around 7:30 p.m. Emergency crews found everyone safe, but one person was stuck on a large tree and had to be rescued by firefighters. Another was found downstream on a sandbar and was brought to shore by boat.
The rest of the group was able to continue with help from a Black Hawk County Conservation boat. Thankfully, no one was hurt. Cedar Falls Fire Rescue got help from paramedics, the sheriff’s office, dispatchers, and conservation officers.
