Sioux City Hazmat Team sent to explosion near Rock Valley

The Sioux City Hazmat Response Team was sent to the scene of an explosion near Rock Valley on Tuesday. According to a release from Sioux County Sheriffโ€™s Office, the Rock Valley Fire Department was called to Meadowvale Dairy at around 10:12 a.m. due to an explosion.

When the fire department arrived, they discovered that it was likely a chemical explosion, prompting the request for assistance from the Sioux City Hazmat Response Team. Officials said that no people or animals were injured and the farm was able to be evacuated and made safe.

The Rock Valley Fire Department was assisted by Rock Valley Ambulance, Hull Fire Department, Sioux Center Fire Department, Sioux County Sheriffโ€™s Office, and Sioux County Emergency Management. Officials are still investigating the explosion.
