The City of Sergeant Bluff has hired its first full-time fire chief. On Tuesday, the City of Sergeant Bluff announced that Anthony Gaul has been hired as the city’s first full-time fire chief. His appointment begins July 1. According to the release, Gaul will be managing the city’s volunteer fire rescue department. The decision to hire a full-time chief to manage the department comes from growth that the department has seen over the past two decades.
The city hopes that this position will help the department better meet volunteer numbers training requirements, equipment, and call volumes. Gaul has been with the fire rescue department since 1991 and brings plenty of experience and a relationship with his community to the position.
