VIDEO: The Muscatine Fire Department honored the retirement of two of their battalion chiefs Tuesday. More than half a century of combined experience walked out the doors of Muscatine Fire Department at the end of September, city leaders said. Battalion Chiefs Joe Timmsen and Ted Hillard were preparing to sign off for the final time, marking the end of long and impactful careers in fire service.
The community was invited to celebrate their service at an open house on Tuesday from noon to 2 p.m. at Fire Station 1, 312 East 5th Street, city leaders said. Also being honored Tuesday was firefighter Lanny Creamer who is retiring after 22-plus years of service with the department. Combined, Timmsen and Hillard have more than 50 years of experience.
