Crews from several surrounding cities responded to a massive fire in downtown Charles City on Saturday. Firefighters were called out around 6 p.m. to a building along N. Main St. in the heart of the business district. In addition to the large emergency response, the fire prompted road closures. Firefighters began leaving the scene around 9:45 p.m. There’s now word yet on the extent of the damage. The cause remains unknown.
