Independence Fire responds after 70+ mph winds down trees

Independence was rocked by 70 to nearly 80 mph winds early Tuesday morning with a line of strong storms. The Independence Fire Department says they responded to over 10 calls for service between 2 and 4 a.m. Crews helped with downed trees, street flooding, trees on homes, power lines, blocked roads, etc. No injuries were reported by any residents. Two wind gust reports of 70 and 77 mph were reported in town as the storms moved through.
