Firehouse, grain bin, and roofs destroyed after severe storm tears through Lineville

VIDEO: The town of Lineville suffered severe storm damage Thursday morning after a severe storm passed through the town. Jeff Landrum, the Assistant Fire Chief of the Lineville Volunteer Fire Department, said he thinks the storm may have been a tornado. โ€œItโ€™d be great to have National Weather Service. Give us some ideas if this really was a tornado with the way that damage looks throughout the town. Weโ€™re pretty confident it was,โ€ Landrum said.

Trees fell all across town, some of them damaging homes and roofs. Some of the most severe damage occurred at the Lineville Volunteer Fire Department which had a four bay garage completely destroyed. Brentt Snow, the Fire Chief of the Lineville Volunteer Fire Department, said the garage took five years of fundraising to build and only recently finished construction.

โ€œWeโ€™ve been talking about it for five and really got serious about it two years ago. So, finally got enough money to get started. And now weโ€™re going to start from scratch again. So, itโ€™s going to be rough,โ€ Snow said. Landrum said an outpouring of support has already come to Linesville and heโ€™s confident the fire department will rebuild.

โ€œItโ€™s just a sad day in Linville. But any small town in Iowa, we got two great people and they all showed up today. And weโ€™ll get back to, back to normal. So, appreciate everybodyโ€™s help and we look forward to getting our station going again,โ€ Landrum said. The Lineville Volunteer Fire Department is accepting donations to help rebuild the building it lost. Donations can be sent to the First Interstate Bank in Corydon, Iowa, to the Building Fund Account.
