The cause of a Saturday morning fire in Davenport remains under investigation, according to a news release from the Davenport Fire Department. Crews were dispatched to a blaze shortly before 11 a.m. on the 8400 block of North Fairmount Street. The first fire units arrived at 10:58 a.m. and found a fifth-wheel camper with heavy fire visible from the front. The first report from a neighbor was that four adults live there.
Crews noticed two vehicles in the driveway at the front of the camper. They used hose lines to extinguish the fire from the exterior while additional crews entered the camper to search for occupants.
Later, the occupants of the camper were found to be safe at another location. Davenport firefighters remained on the scene for two hours to search for and extinguish hidden fires. No one was injured.
