PHOTOS: The Evansville Fire Department says over a dozen people have been displaced by an apartment complex fire early Sunday morning. Crews were called to the 700 block of Biltmore Way, where flames could be coming from the top of the Cross Lake Apartments.
When firefighters arrived, they say a second alarm was called to bring in more crews to help with the fire. Part of the roof collapsed due to the fire, but officials say they got the fire under control in about 50 minutes.
Fire investigators say the cause will most likely be ruled accidental, however, the investigation is still underway. CenterPoint Energy was called to the scene to secure utilities, and the American Red Cross was notified to assist around 18 people displaced.
