Ohio Township Fire Department says chemical fire has been extinguished

VIDEOS: The Ohio Township Fire Department has issued a news release saying the chemical fire on Vann Avenue has been declared extinguished. In the release, officials gave more details about the fire. According to fire officials, crews were called to 5622 Vann Road at 2:40 p.m. Saturday for reports of a large structure fire.

While in route, more 911 calls came in and a large smoke column could be seen by crews, and the fire was upgraded to a 2nd alarm. When crews arrived, they say a 100 foot by 100 foot fire could be seen, involving numerous hazardous materials. Crews then request a full hazardous materials team from the Evansville Fire Department. Officials were able to confirm all the employees of the building had gotten out safely from the fire, with no injuries. Firefighter say they started to monitor for hazardous materials, and shelter in place orders were given by the Warrick County Emergency Management.
