Ohio Township Fire Chief Receives Coast Guard Certificate of Merit

Scott Foreman, Fire Chief of the Ohio Township Fire Department, received a Certificate of Merit from the United States Coast Guard on July 16, 2025. The commendation states “The superior performance, attention to detail, and initiative displayed by Chief Scott Foreman, Ohio Township Fire Department, are wholeheartedly commended and are in keeping with the noblest traditions of inter-agency cooperation and maritime safety and security on and along our nation’s inland waterways.”

Foreman has held leadership roles with the Evansville, Owensboro, Henderson, and Mount Vernon regional Area Maritime Security Committee since 2020. “Ohio Township is very fortunate to have the experience and leadership of Chief Scott Foreman leading our department,” said Chad Bennett, Ohio Township Trustee.

“Scott’s many decades of public service in the Fire Department are a testament to his passion for our community and his willingness to help anyone.” The United States Coast Guard explained that Area Maritime Security Committees, established by the Maritime Transportation Security Act in 2002, focus on contingency planning and enhancing communication among port stakeholders.
