VIDEO: Noblesville Fire has lifted a shelter-in-place order for residents after a chemical explosion at a water treatment facility on Thursday. The “hazmat emergency” in Noblesville resulted from a chemical feed explosion at the downtown water treatment plant in Noblesville on Thursday.
According to Indiana American Water, the explosion happened at the facility, located at 835 Wayne Street in Noblesville, around 1:15 p.m. It caused the company to shut down operations. Officials from the company said no injuries were reported, but an employee was taken to the hospital with minor injuries as a precautionary measure. Noblesville Fire asked anyone in the immediate one-block area between Wayne and Clinton Streets, or 8th and 10th Streets, to shelter in place while air quality tests were conducted. The all-clear has since been issued.
