No injuries in Seymour apartment fire

The Seymour Fire Department (SFD) responded to the 300 block of South Jackson Park Drive for a report of a fire in a third-floor apartment unit on Thursday, December 4, at 6:30 p.m. Ladder 3 was the first crew on scene and advanced an attack line to the third floor, where firefighters encountered heavy smoke. The building’s sprinkler system had activated before SFD arrived, which helped to slow the spread of the flames.

Firefighters extinguished the remaining fire while confirming that no occupants were inside. One resident was home at the time of the incident and was able to self-evacuate.

Neighbors had called 911, which helped ensure a quick response. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
