Mishawaka fire chief announces retirement

VIDEO: Fire Chief Bryon Woodward will retire from the Mishawaka Fire Department after leading it for 10 years. Woodwardโ€™s last day in office will be February 13, 2026, the city announced.

โ€œThroughout his tenure, he has played an instrumental role in advancing our mission, supporting our firefighters, and ensuring the continued growth and readiness of the department,โ€ the city said in a news release. โ€œHis leadership has helped shape the strong foundation we stand on today.โ€

The city said it is beginning the transition process to replace Woodward.

โ€œWe are grateful for the dedication, vision, and steady guidance he has provided,โ€ the city said. โ€œAs we begin the transition process, please join us in thanking Chief Woodward for his service and wishing him the very best in this next chapter.โ€
