Indianapolis Fire Department: Family of 4 displaced after house fire

VIDEO: A family of four is without a home following a fire early Saturday morning on the near west side of Indianapolis.  According to a social media post from the Indianapolis Fire Department, around 1:16 a.m. on July 5, firefighters responded to the 500 block of North Centennial Street, near West Michigan Street, on a report of a residence fire.

Firefighters say the fire also spread to a home next door, forcing a family of five to evacuate. However, IFD says the damage to the neighboring house was contained to the exterior. After making an aggressive attack, firefighters were able to get the fire under control in about 20 minutes. IFD is currently investigating the cause of the fire. Additionally, IFD says the displaced family was able to safely retrieve their two dogs and cat from the fire.
