PHOTOS: Investigators are looking into the cause of a house fire that displaced a family of eight and killed two cats Wednesday afternoon. The fire was reported shortly before 2 p.m. Oct. 1 in the 4300 block of West 30th Street, just east of Georgetown Road.
Crews from the Indianapolis, Speedway and Pike Township fire departments arrived to find heavy fire coming from the front of the home, but were able to get the fire under control in around five minutes. One child was taken to Riley Hospital for children in good condition to be checked out, IFD said. Two cats died in the fire. Officials said the Red Cross is working with the family to provide shelter.
