VIDEO/PHOTOS: Crews pulled a car out of a creek after a driver lost control and crashed Monday morning on the near east side. According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, the incident happened after 8 a.m. near English Avenue and E. Pleasant Run Parkway South Drive.
The Indianapolis Fire Department said a woman was driving eastbound on English Avenue when she hit some water on the road, hydroplaned and lost control. The car went 20 feet down an embankment. The 20-year-old driver called 911 to report what happened. She told dispatchers she “hit deep water” and her car spun around. The Chevy Malibu floated about 400 feet down Pleasant Run Creek before crews pulled it out. Firefighters deployed a life jacket to the woman, and Swift Water rescue personnel managed to reach her and bring her to safety by 8:30 a.m.
