Crews clean up 100 gallons of diesel fuel after crash in Hendricks County

PHOTOS: Authorities responded to a reported diesel fuel spill in Hendricks County on Wednesday afternoon that caused a significant traffic backup. The Fire Department of Liberty Township said its units responded shortly after 4 p.m. to a report of a chemical spill in the area of S. State Road 39 at E. County Road 1000 S.

Units arrived on the scene and located a tractor-trailer with a ruptured fuel tank, which caused all lanes of the highway to shut down. Crews managed to successfully contain the spill and prevent contamination of a nearby body of water.

The incident resulted in around 100 gallons of diesel fuel being spilled. The Plainfield Fire Territory, Brownsburg Fire Territory, Indiana State Police and Hendricks County Sheriffโ€™s Office also assisted at the scene as crews removed the disabled vehicle and cleared the roadway for traffic to continue moving.
