Firefighters from multiple Cass County departments battled a late-night blaze Saturday after smoke was spotted rising from a commercial building in Walton. According to the Walton Community Fire Department, crews were dispatched around 10:00 p.m. on November 1 to the 500 block of North Main Street for a reported structure fire.
Units from New Waverly and Galveston Fire Departments also responded to assist. Fire Chief Brayden Shedron said a single-story commercial structure was found with smoke coming from the roof.
The business was closed at the time, and firefighters quickly launched an interior attack through the rear door, locating flames in the back of the building. Personnel worked to contain the blaze, preventing it from spreading into the attic space.
No injuries were reported. Crews remained on the scene for several hours conducting overhaul operations and assisting the State Fire Marshalโs Office, which is investigating the cause.
