Car fire causes significant damage at Indianapolis storage facility

VIDEO: Investigators are looking into a vehicle fire that caused significant damage to a southwest Indianapolis storage facility Tuesday. Crews from the Wayne and Decatur township fire departments were called shortly before noon Oct. 14 to a storage facility in the 2900 block of South Lynhurst Drive, near West Troy Avenue.

A van fire spread to several storage units, and firefighters had to use power saws to get into the storage units and knock down the fire. “Firefighters simultaneously had to extinguish a vehicle fire that was leaking gasoline just outside the storage containers,” the Wayne Township Fire Department said in a social media post.

Crews brought the fire under control in roughly 20 minutes. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
