VIDEO/PHOTOS: Five people remain in the hospital with life-threatening injuries after a house exploded in Jeffersonville late Wednesday night. The Jeffersonville Police Department responded to the explosion in the 900 block of Washington Way around 11:40 p.m.
Officers found five people suffering from injuries in the front yard of the home, which was still engulfed in flames. Jeffersonville Fire arrived on scene and extinguished the fire, while Heartland EMS began treating victims at the scene. Two of the home’s occupants were airlifted to a nearby hospital, while the other three were transported by ambulance. In an update Thursday afternoon, authorities said the cause of the explosion remains under investigation; however, a preliminary investigation found there is no evidence of malicious intent.
