One person is dead after a home in Floyd County caught fire Tuesday morning, a spokesperson for the Highlander Fire Protection District confirmed. Crews responded to a fire in the 200 block of Sheri Drive in Georgetown around 12:30 a.m.
Crews assisted Georgetown Township Fire in putting out the blaze and establishing a water supply. One person was reported dead in the fire. A second fire happened a little over an hour later in the 4500 block of Augusta National Drive in Floyds Knobs.
Crews from multiple departments responded to find heavy smoke coming from the home. The occupants were able to be safely evacuated from the home with no injuries.
