Wonder Lake Fire Chief Mike Weber to retire after nearly 50 years of service on department

Wonder Lake Fire Chief Mike Weber will officially retire on Friday during a walkout ceremony following nearly 50 years of service to the department and community. The Wonder Lake Fire Protection District said Weber began his career with the fire district on September 23, 1977, and has served for nearly five decades. He was appointed as Fire Chief on January 29, 2019.

The district said he has since overseen significant advancements in firefighter training, emergency medical services, fire prevention initiatives and operational efficiency across the district. “Chief Weber’s impact on this department and our community cannot be overstated,” the Wonder Lake Fire District Board of Trustees said. “His involvement and community participation have shaped the Wonder Lake Fire Protection District into what it is today. We are forever grateful for his service,” they added.
