VIDEO: No injuries to people or pets were reported Monday after Rock Island Fire crews responded to a structure fire shortly before 1 p.m. on the 3800 block of 15th Avenue, a news release says. Upon arrival, crews saw light smoke coming from the first floor of a 1 1/2 story residential structure.
A resident standing outside notified personnel that two occupants were still inside, sleeping on the second floor. Firefighters immediately made entry, found the two people, and successfully got them out.
A small fire was subsequently located and quickly suppressed in the basement area. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Office of the Fire Marshal, the release says.
