Three firefighters were injured and taken by helicopter to a hospital after fighting a grass fire on Tuesday. Around 3 p.m., the Elizabeth Fire Protection District was called to a grass fire on South Rush Road. They were called to help Hanover Fire Protection extinguish the fire. Three fire protection responders were injured during the incident. Authorities did not specify which fire protection district firefighters were hurt. Each firefighter was taken to the appropriate facilities by air ambulance, according to the release. The fire was eventually extinguished. Jo Daviess County Emergency Management said there is no risk to the public at this time.
