VIDEO/PHOTOS: Several crews responded to an overnight fire in the 900 block of Acorn Street. Just after midnight October 2, Rockford fire was called to a two story, 5 family apartment building that was fully involved, officials say.
WIFR crew saw flames coming through the roof and the building appeared to be boarded up. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation. In September, firefighters responded to two separate structure fires in other vacant buildings nearby. One fire caused around $100,000 in damages. This incident was also the third of three fires reported in Rockford overnight between October 1 and 2.
