Paxton, Rantoul Fire Departments monitor controlled fire for movie shoot

As the movie Chili Finger continues being filmed in Central Illinois, two local fire departments helped monitor a scene in which a corn crib was burned Friday night. According to Paxton Fire Chief Dennis Kingren, both the Paxton and Rantoul Fire Departments monitored a controlled burn on June 27 between 10:30-11 p.m. west of I-57, just south of E 200 N Road.

The location of the burn was just south of Paxton and close to Ludlow, near Fosterโ€™s Mechanics LLC. On Thursday, the fire departments monitored โ€œplay fires,โ€ or practice fires before the scene was filmed the following night. Crews were on scene between 8:30-9 p.m. and didnโ€™t leave until approximately 5 a.m. on Friday. On scene, Rantoul Fire provided a ladder truck and Paxton provided an anchor truck.
