VIDEO: What started as an outdoor cooking fire ended with a trailer home ruined in Belvidere. According to the Belvidere Fire Department, firefighters were alerted around 1:56 p.m. for a cooking fire that spread inside a Bel Bo Trailer Park home.
First responders noticed heavy smoke and residents standing outside when they arrived near 1211 West Locust Street. Belvidere Fire says the blaze was under control within 10 minutes. A post-incident report states the fire caused no injuries to residents or firefighters. While the cause remains under investigation, property damage is estimated to reach $50,000. The blaze required a response from 22 firefighters – who arrived a minute after the initial call. Belvidere Fire received assistance from Boone County Fire Protection District #1 and #2, Cherry Valley Fire, Marengo Fire and the Belvidere Police Department.
