Numerous fire departments respond after live power lines fall onto Algonquin house

PHOTOS: Numerous fire departments were called after live power lines came down onto a house and yard and sparked a fire in Algonquin Wednesday morning, fire officials said. The Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District responded around 5:59 a.m. Wednesday to the 800 block of Oceola Drive in Algonquin for a report of an outside fire. Over six 911 calls were received for reports that a yard was on fire and one caller reported a home was on fire.

The incident was upgraded to a Working Fire response to bring additional resources to the scene. Fire crews arrived on the scene and reported that an electrical service drop wire was on top of a house and on fire.

The wires were also on top of a vehicle parked in the driveway. ComEd was requested to expedite to the scene to address the live power lines that were arcing across the front yards of two homes.
