Neighbors help rescue family from house fire, Naperville Fire Department says

VIDEO: A family of five and their two dogs are without a house after a fire destroyed their home on Monday, according to officials. The Naperville Fire Department was called at about 10:36 a.m. regarding a fire at a home in the 100-block of Locust Court. As fire crews were on the way, neighbors helped alert the people inside the house and helped them evacuate the home. Firefighters were able to rescue one of the family’s dogs that were still inside the home.

The fire was out by 11:23 a.m., according to the Naperville Fire Department. Chopper 7 was over the scene at about 11:10 a.m. showing the damage left by the fire. Officials said the damage was mostly to the garage and roof. Damages to the home were estimated at $100,000. The house was deemed uninhabitable. The fire displaced three adults, two children, and two dogs, the fire department said. It is unknown what caused the fire.
