A vehicle fire early Tuesday in Naperville spread to a nearby townhome, forcing residents to evacuate and leaving one unit uninhabitable, officials said. According to the Naperville Emergency Communications Center, a neighbor called 911 at 12:46 a.m. to report a vehicle on fire in the driveway of a home in the 500 block of Scots Drive.
The fire was in close proximity to the residence, prompting the dispatch of a full still alarm assignment, which included two engines, a ladder truck, a medic unit, and two battalion chiefs. All occupants had evacuated before firefighters arrived. Fire crews arrived to find the vehicle fully engulfed, with flames extending into the home. The incident was upgraded to a general alarm, bringing additional resources including another engine, ladder truck, medic unit, and heavy rescue team. Crews conducted a 360-degree survey, established command, and began suppression efforts. Multiple hoselines were deployed, and a primary search confirmed no one remained inside.
