The Mt. Hope-Funks Grove Fire Protection District announced on Friday that it was awarded a federal grant to replace aging equipment. The Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant awarded $65,000 to the district to replace its Stryker power load and power cot system, a district Facebook post said.
The post said the equipment has been in service for eight years, and replacing it ensures safer patient transport while minimizing manual lifting, which can reduce responder injury. This also keeps the fire protection district aligned with EMS standards, according to the post. “We extend our heartfelt thanks to Dan Rogers of First Due Consulting for his expert guidance and support in writing the grant. His assistance was instrumental in helping us secure this funding and continue our mission of protecting the community,” The post said. The district also thanked FEMA for investing in the district.
