Morris Firefighter Killed in Crash

Aron Jaime, a 34-year-old Joliet resident who served with the Morris Fire & Ambulance Protection District for the past 10 years, was killed in a late-night crash over the weekend in Will County. The Illinois State Police told Joliet Patch that the fatality happened around 11:25 p.m. Saturday along I-80 eastbound at milepost 125 in Troy Township. According to the Illinois State Police, troopers responded to a single-vehicle fatal crash.

“For unknown reasons, a black Mazda lost control and skidded onto the right shoulder, hitting a stationary orange mobile camera trailer. The driver was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced deceased on scene,” state police said.

On Monday afternoon, the Morris Fire Department posted a photo of Jaime on their Facebook page and announced, “it is with great sadness that the Morris Fire & Ambulance Protection District announces the off-duty death of Firefighter/EMT Aron Jaime, age 34.”

The agency noted that he had served with the district for 10 years and became a full-time firefighter and EMT in May.
