Joliet Battalion Chief Shares Details Of Blaze Needing 4 Fire Stations To Respond

PHOTOS: The community of Joliet experienced one of its biggest fires of late as the Joliet Fire Department sent engines from four different fire stations to extinguish Monday night’s blaze near the frontage road for Jefferson Street/Route 52. According to Battalion Chief Jim Batusich, at 10:20 p.m. on Monday, the Joliet Fire Department responded to the 4100 block of Whitetail Court for an attached garage fire to a 2-story residence.

Company 7 arrived within 4 minutes of the call and were met with heavy fire and smoke coming from the attached garage. Crews performed a quick attack on the garage and limited the fire spread to the structure.

The garage suffered heavy fire, smoke and water damage. Occupants of the structure exited safely prior to the fire department’s arrival.

Crews performed interior attack, vertical ventilation and savage and overhaul. Crews remained on the scene for 90 minutes extinguishing hot spots and checking for extension. There were no injuries to report.
