VIDEO: A house fire in Champaign County is forced one family to find a temporary place to stay after a blaze ripped through their house. It happened at the corner of St. Joseph and Jacobsen Drives in Thomasboro. The fire department said that four people, a dog and a cat are all displaced, and neighbors say they’re trying everything in their power to help them in their time of need.
Both the fire department and people in the area say it was just after 5 p.m. Wednesday. By the time the department got to the house, they said the fire was in the garage.
Crews from Thomasboro, Rantoul, Gifford and Sangamon Valley responded. Firefighters had to use foam to keep gas in the car and lawn mower from relighting. WCIA talked to one neighbor who said he lives across the street and came home right as it started.
