Homeowner displaced, firefighter injured after house fire in Orland Park

An Orland Park homeowner was left without a place to stay overnight after their home was badly damaged in a fire that also left a first responder with minor injuries. According to officials from the Orland Fire Protection District, the blaze erupted on Tuesday afternoon at a home in the 11500 block of 113th Avenue in Orland Park.

Crews were first called to the scene following reports of heavy smoke billowing from a two-story home in the area. Upon arrival, crews recognized the extent of the blaze and called in additional help to get it under control. Crews were able to quickly stamp out the blaze and say it caused minimal damage, but the homeowner was still temporarily displaced. While battling the blaze, one firefighter suffered minor injuries. The injured firefighter was later treated and released. Officials say the cause of the fire is unclear and an investigation is now underway.
