PHOTOS: A Joliet business was destroyed over the weekend due to an overnight fire. Battalion chief Joe Vish said the fire happened around 3:50 a.m. on Saturday as the Joliet Fire Department responded to 710 West Jefferson for an automatic fire alarm activation. While en route, dispatch received additional calls of a building on fire.
Company 5 arrived first to find a 1-story commercial building with heavy fire showing from the front windows, Vish noted. The fire was declared under control at 4:13 a.m. Search and Rescue crews determined that the building was unoccupied at the time of the incident. There were no injuries. Fire crews from Joliet Fire Stations 5, 1, and 6 were on scene, which included two ladder trucks. The fire is currently under investigation.
