VIDEO/PHOTOS: Fire crews in Illiopolis spent more than five hours working to extinguish a house fire early Monday morning. The Illiopolis Fire Protection District responded to a home on 6th Street around 2:10 a.m. When crews arrived on scene, they found a home with “heavy fire.”
Officials added that the roof had partially collapsed at the back of the home. The Buffalo and Niantic Fire Protection Districts helped Illiopolis firefighters extinguish the fire. Although the home is a total loss because of the “extensive fire damage,” no one was hurt. Fire officials said the home is currently vacant, and no residents were displaced. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
